The Cape Breton Regional Police Service invites you to attend the 107th
Annual Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) Conference in
Sydney, Nova Scotia – Cape Breton – from August 19 – 22, 2012.
Each
year, CACP members gather for the opportunity to network and share
ideas, debate and dialogue important policing issues, and participate in
professional development sessions, building on the knowledge and
training that police officers need to maintain safe communities for
Canadian citizens.
In 2012, we bring you a theme of “One Nation, Many Peoples: the Full Circle of Policing in Canada.” The
connection between policing and Aboriginal peoples is one that affects
every police service in this country– things like recruitment, funding,
governance, policing standards and models, trust and relationships,
gangs and organized crime, or policing aboriginal-specific incidents.
With a range of dynamic and experienced presenters, we’ll help you ask
the tough questions, address the issues and find the answers to embrace
our diversity and the contributions we all make to create a strong,
cooperative and collaborative circle of policing for this country. And,
for the first time in CACP history, parts of this conference will be
hosted on Aboriginal soil, on the Membertou First Nation, located within
the Cape Breton Regional Municipality.
On top of an engaging
professional program, our conference offers an exciting vacation
opportunity for you and your family. Visit Sydney and the Cape Breton
Regional Municipality, and explore the entire island of Cape Breton – a
place rated as the #1 island destination in North America, and the #3 in
the world, by the 2011 Travel and Leisure Magazine World’s Best Awards
Readers’ Survey.
Cape Breton – Nova Scotia’s Masterpiece – is a
unique part of the world that promises an experience like no other. So,
come early and stay late – we welcome you in 2012!
